Peer Review and Publication Process in the Journal of Engineering Geology:

1. Submission of Required Files

The corresponding author must submit the following files through the online system:

• The manuscript (with author’s name)
• The manuscript (without author’s name)
• Conflict of Interest Form
• Commitment Form

Upon successful submission, an acknowledgment receipt containing a tracking code and a confirmation email will be sent to the author.

2. Initial review

The journal office checks the manuscript for compliance with the journal’s formatting and writing guidelines. If deficiencies are found, the manuscript is returned to the authors for revision. Subsequently, the Editor-in-Chief evaluates the submission for quality, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope. If the manuscript does not meet the required criteria, it may be rejected or returned for further revision.

3. Double blind peer review

At least three expert reviewers are assigned to evaluate the manuscript (the review process typically takes about 3–4 weeks). The possible decisions include:

• Accept without revisions
• Minor or major revisions required
• Reject but encourage resubmission
• Outright reject

4. Production and Publication

Following final acceptance, authors are required to pay the publication fee. The subsequent steps include:

• Linguistic and technical copyediting
• Typesetting and layout
• Preparation of the final proof and author approval
• Online publication in an upcoming issue of the journal
